Everybody's watching her, but she's looking at you

Well this happened.

The day was everything I could have hoped for
I had this great post in my head, intending to post a lost earlier, but then, the holidays hit. And well, here it is.

In December, Ian came into my life about 2 years prior (neither of us remember what day was our first date) and we had been married about 3 months. And I look back on this day and I just don't want to forget any of it. I want to remember everything I was feeling at the time.

Cheesy? Maybe. Don't care.

3's: Mantras.

... When you need that reason to get out of bed in the morning. When you need something good at 180bpm. When you simply need a good kick in the rear. I highly suggest you have one ready.

irrational exuberance

Throwing back to the days of 'Yatta!' here. Come on. Anyone else with me? Anyone? Bueller?

I can't even believe this stuff is still on the internet.

There's something to be said for that carefree 'irrational exuberance' feeling. Everything feels so cold and calculated lately. It's been FOREVER since I've felt this way. About ANYTHING. (not just, you know, what the songs suggest.) Did I turn 30 and become physically incapable of it?

I mean, I want live life like Peter Quinn in the opening of 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' Groovin, then kicking ass and beating the bad guy.

I am leaving for ALASKA tomorrow for work, and I'm way more stressed out about it than I should be. ALASKA.

Threes: Walls

I love when new music cycles into my life right when I need it.

A few songs rolling around in my head lately (two new and one old favorite) have me thinking about my definition of 'walls' and role they should play in my life.

Are they something to actively seek out and break down?
Give me a sledgehammer and give me strength

Are they something protecting what's important, and I should be maintaining them and mourning the loss of them?

And the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love

Or are they artificially holding in something that's no longer useful?

Hard to believe and end to it/the warehouse is bare/nothing at all inside of it/the walls and the halls have disappeared

I'm excited to figure it out.

can't be told it can't be done

A three's tribute to 2012. Seemed so much simpler then.

in threes: nostalgic

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today since a year ago this weekend I was preparing for my first official tri. And it's not even happening this year! So, in tribute, here are some songs that were rolling through my head at this time a year ago that still make me party a little bit when they come on in the car. Here's to another great year!

because things happen in threes, right?

Maybe it's because I've always been the 'perfect kid,' never took risks, was always 'older than my years'. Or maybe I've just been feeling worn down lately. But these songs have been resonating with me more than usual lately. Here's to eternal optimism and not being afraid to make mistakes.

still in first gear

Back from a wonderful wedding weekend in Pittsburgh!

I have nothing new to share today, except that I think my swim coach is getting annoyed that I'm not improving as fast as he'd like. Hey, I did graduate from the slowest lane to the second-slowest lane, so that's something.

In response, I give you a trifecta of obnoxiously bubbly songs. If I have to put up with them in my head all the time, then you should too. You're welcome. :-)
